About Nik:
Nikolaus Charles English grew up in Salt Lake City, UT and has been an artist his whole life. He enjoys all forms of drawing and painting and love the impressionist movement and the American Illustrators. He studied at the Salt Lake Community College and University of Utah. His true love is the human form. Figure drawing and painting is a passion he developed through his indulgence in comic books. He is a kid at heart and loves returning to his roots by continuing to cultivate his abilities as an illustrator and painter.
During his 10 year employment with Laser Quest, Nik was given the opportunity to travel the country painting interior murals for their various locations. He learned a lot about what it takes to paint something on a large scale. Soon after, Nik took a more conventional job at Mac Docs, a local Apple computer store. There he became familiar with the software available to help him create art in another dimension. After working with computers for 4 years he had the good fortune to be offered a job at Lumenas Animation Studios. He became a model maker on the sets of their upcoming stop-motion film "The Legend of Santa Claus" working with Clark Shaffer. Nik has designs and decorative finishes featured in LDS Temples for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the temple locations are Salt Lake Utah, Cordoba Argentina, Fort Lauderdale Florida, Ogden Utah, Cochabamba Bolivia and Gilbert Arizona. Nik has worked with many companies doing graphic design, logo design & brochures including Utah Jazz, Real Salt Lake, Carmelle Reception Center, Zions Bank, Beans and Brews, University of Utah & America First Credit Union ect. Nik takes his work seriously, but very much enjoys sharing it with his younger friends. He loves to see something he has created bring the joy of recognition to young eyes.
Nik has been featured in many local art exhibitions including voted a Semifinalist for Visual Artist of the Year 2012 SLC RawArtist.org.
Nik's painter influences are Donato Giancola, Pino Daeni, Richard Schmid and John Singer Sargent. Nik's biggest influence is his mentor, local artist Robert McKay. He has been a force for good since 1992 and they still keep in touch today.
